Why Quartz-Lens LEDs?
The CNS Pro Cure Lamp uses genuine quartz optical lenses, selected for their UV transmission and heat-resistance properties.
LED quality and optical construction are important considerations in a curing lamp. They are part of what determines how light is produced and delivered.
Dual-Wavelength Technology
UV/LED gels contain photoinitiators that respond to specific wavelengths of light.
The CNS Pro Cure Lamp uses dual-wavelength LEDs designed to emit within the 365–375nm and 395–405nm ranges.
This provides light in two wavelength regions relevant to UV/LED gel chemistry.
Mirrored Curing Chamber
The reflective interior is designed to help distribute UV-A light throughout the curing area.
LED placement, chamber design, and correct hand positioning all contribute to how light reaches the nails.
Why Wattage Isn't Everything
Wattage measures electrical power consumption. It doesn't tell you how much usable UV-A light actually reaches the gel.
Wavelength, irradiance, exposure time, and gel chemistry are more useful considerations when evaluating curing performance.
That's why CNS evaluates the lamp's actual UV-A output rather than relying on an advertised wattage number alone.
UV-A Testing & Performance
Actual UV-A Output Testing
The CNS Pro Cure Lamp 2.0 has undergone irradiance and spectral testing to evaluate its light output.
Rather than relying solely on advertised wattage, we look at the UV-A light the completed lamp actually produces.
Measured Performance
- Average chamber irradiance: Approximately 15.67 mW/cm² across six consecutive scans
- Measured spectral peaks: Approximately 366nm and 398nm
These results help us evaluate the lamp's UV-A output and confirm the characteristics of its dual-wavelength technology.
What Is Irradiance?
Irradiance measures the amount of light power reaching a surface.
In gel curing, it helps describe how much UV-A light is available at a measured location.
It's different from electrical wattage, which tells you how much power a lamp consumes.
A higher wattage rating does not automatically mean better curing performance.
Why Do Wavelengths Matter?
Gel products contain photoinitiators that absorb particular wavelengths of light to initiate curing.
A lamp needs to produce suitable wavelengths for the formula being cured.
Our spectral testing recorded emission peaks near 366nm and 398nm.
These measurements help characterize the actual light produced by the CNS Pro Cure Lamp 2.0.
Why We Test
Curing performance depends on more than a lamp turning on or a gel feeling hard after exposure.
Evaluating UV-A output gives us measurable information about the equipment we're developing.
Light-output testing is one part of that process. Formula compatibility, application thickness, and curing time must also be considered.
Our testing data describes the lamp's measured output under specific conditions and does not guarantee complete curing of every gel formula.
Proper Gel Curing & Compatibility
Developed With CNS Gel Systems in Mind
The CNS Pro Cure Lamp was developed with our gel systems and their curing requirements in mind.
CNS has conducted internal gel polish curing evaluations to help establish recommended application and exposure times.
Recommended CNS Gel Polish Cure
- Cure time: 60 seconds
- Application: Thin, even coats
- Lamp technology: Dual-wavelength UV/LED
Always follow the instructions for the individual CNS product. Builder gels, top coats, and specialty products may have different curing requirements.
How UV/LED Gel Cures
UV/LED gel contains photoinitiators that absorb suitable wavelengths of light.
When activated, they initiate polymerization, a chemical reaction that connects reactive molecules into a cross-linked network and changes the gel into a solid coating.
Proper curing depends on the combination of the gel formula, wavelength, irradiance, exposure time, and application thickness.
Why Thin Coats Matter
Light must reach the photoinitiators throughout the gel layer.
Applying gel too thickly can affect light penetration, particularly with highly pigmented or opaque colors.
A gel can feel hard on the surface without necessarily being appropriately cured throughout the application.
Follow the recommended application thickness and full curing time.
What About the Sticky Layer?
Some gel products leave an oxygen inhibition layer after curing.
This tacky surface can be normal and is caused by oxygen interfering with polymerization at the exposed surface.
A sticky layer does not automatically mean the entire coating is improperly cured. Likewise, a hard surface does not prove complete curing.
Avoid skin contact with uncured gel and follow the product's instructions for applying subsequent layers or top coat.
Can I Cure Other Brands?
Different gel systems can have different photoinitiator chemistry and curing requirements.
The CNS Pro Cure Lamp's dual-wavelength output does not guarantee compatibility with every gel formula.
Always follow the gel manufacturer's recommended curing instructions and equipment guidance.
Features, Timer Settings & Customization
Cordless Professional Operation
The CNS Pro Cure Lamp features a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for cordless salon use.
It can also remain connected to its approved power supply during attended, active salon services.
Motion Sensor
The built-in motion sensor activates the lamp when a hand is positioned inside the curing chamber.
HD LCD Display
The display shows curing time and battery level.
Timer Settings
Choose from four timer options:
- 10 seconds
- 30 seconds
- 60 seconds
- 90 seconds
Select the appropriate curing time for the product being used.
90-Second Low Heat Mode
The 90-second Low Heat Mode provides a gradual curing setting intended to help manage heat sensation during certain gel applications.
Heat sensation varies with the product, application thickness, and nail condition.
Low Heat Mode does not guarantee that heat spikes will be prevented.
Set Your Default Timer
You can program your preferred timer setting for daily use.
Instructions:
- Press and hold the timer button you want to save until the display flashes.
- Tap the same button again to save the setting.
Turn the Beep OFF
Press and hold the 10s and 30s buttons simultaneously until the display reads OF. If you have the 2.0 lamp you will just hold down the 10s button.
Turn the Beep ON
Repeat the same process until the display reads ON.
Removable Pedicure Base
The removable base makes the lamp convenient for pedicure services and provides easier access for cleaning.
Built-In Carry Handle
The integrated handle makes moving the lamp between work areas easier.
Proper Hand Positioning
Place the hand fully inside the curing chamber and position the nails for appropriate light exposure.
Pay particular attention to thumbs and nails near the edges of the chamber.
Always follow the curing time recommended for the gel product being used.
Battery Care, Maintenance & CNS Support
Charging & Battery Care
The CNS Pro Cure Lamp uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
For proper operation:
- Fully charge before first use.
- Recharge when the battery indicator reaches one bar.
- Use the supplied charging cord and approved power supply.
- The lamp may remain plugged in during attended, active salon use.
- Unplug when no longer in use.
- Never leave the lamp charging or connected to power unattended or overnight.
- Avoid excessive heat, moisture, drops, and impact damage.
Battery Longevity
Rechargeable batteries naturally lose capacity with age and use.
Cordless runtime may decrease over time.
Proper charging practices and avoiding excessive heat can help maintain battery health.
UV LED Longevity
UV LED output can change over time, even when the lamp still appears bright.
Visible light alone is not a reliable indicator of UV-A curing performance.
If you notice unusual operation or suspect a change in curing performance, discontinue use until the equipment has been evaluated.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Keep the curing chamber clean and dry.
- Avoid gel buildup on the mirrored interior.
- Inspect the charging cord and connections regularly.
- Protect the lamp from drops and damage.
- Avoid allowing liquids into electrical openings.
- Discontinue use if the lamp or charging components appear damaged.
CNS Equipment Support
We offer in-house equipment support for qualifying issues with CNS lamps.
If you experience a charging problem, malfunction, or other equipment concern, submit a support request so we can review the issue and help with the next steps.
